Summary

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' loss on Sunday Night Football three days ago feels like it took place last month, mainly because there have been FOUR NFL games since then. And if we didn't already get our Christmas wish, get ready, there's more Thursday, Saturday and Monday night football to come. After discussing the state of the MVP race, Charles Robinson welcomes Yahoo NFL editor Joey Gulino to the podcast to recap the quartet of weeknight games we've had since Sunday – another loss for Russell Wilson's Seahawks, the encouraging Eagles hovering around .500 and more disappointment for the Browns and Bears.Sticking with the Browns, Charles & Joey dive into the razor thin margins of the AFC North. With only three weeks left to go in the regular season, each team is still capable of either winning the division or missing the playoffs completely. The guys break down how they think it will shake out for the Browns, Ravens, Bengals and Steelers in the season's final weeks. (34:00)In the latter third of the show, Charles & Joey kick off their first "belief index" heading into the playoffs. Which five teams are they most confident could pull off a Super Bowl run? Sure conference-leading teams like the Chiefs and Packers lead that squad, but what other dark horse candidates do they consider trustworthy? (43:00)Stay up to date with the latest NFL news and coverage from Yahoo Sports on Twitter @YahooSportsNFL.Follow Charles @CharlesRobinsonPlease support Terez Paylor's legacy by supporting the Terez A. In that NFL, it's going to be a wide open MVP race.

0:42.0

Is it, or are we just looking for something to talk about?

0:46.0

As a voter, I struggle with this question partly because I'm getting bombarded with new headlines every week

where if someone wants to toss another name on the pile, and partly because it's a fight not to just default into the box of choosing from the best quarterbacks on the best teams.

You try to keep an open mind, and in a season like this, it gets dizzy.

1:06.0

For the first time in 27 years, since 1994, you could see a final MVP tally that includes a vote going to a defensive player, a wide receiver, a running back, and a quarterback.

1:18.0

That almost never happens.

1:20.0

And that vote back in 1994 speaks to why.

1:24.0

First, it was a time where there were far more votes to go around, 98 in total, versus only 50 MVP votes now.

1:31.0

But second, the field was absurd, featuring a tally split between four first ballot hall of famers, in Steve Young, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, and Dion Sanders.

1:41.0

Steve Young won it that year, by the way.

1:44.0

But in this season's insanity, you could see that again.

1:47.0

Depending on how the final stretch shakes out, there could be multiple quarterbacks deserving of serious consideration, including Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady, Patrick Holmes, maybe Matt Stafford, and a few other guys.

1:59.0

But the skill positions aren't going away quietly this year, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor and LA Rams wide out Cooper Cup, could each eclipse 2,000 yards this season, one in rushing, one in receiving.

2:11.0

And defensively, Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher TJ Watt has 17 and a half sacks in only 12 games.

2:18.0

Michael Strahan set those sack record of 22 and a half in 2001.

2:22.0

And if Watt can break that, playing in only 15 games this season, he has to be part of any MVP conversation.
