In addition to being adored by celebrities and stylists, Jennifer's fine and fashion jewelry has become a staple in jewelry lovers' wardrobes worldwide. After getting pregnant with her son in 2005, Jennifer couldn't find a piece that suited her unique style, so she decided to create her own. 18 years later, Jennifer is not only a brand, but she has redefined who she is completely. Despite many challenges, she naturally evolved into a lifestyle brand with salts, fragrances, and merchandise. Plus she is currently working on a cookbook detailing what she has learned about living with Hashimotos! 0:08.2

Yes. I feel like everyone knows.

0:10.3

I don't know.

0:11.8

You are the go-to for celebrities, stylist. So I would just love for you to take me back to when you first started.

0:19.7

What made you want to get into this realm? Nothing. Nothing. No. In fact, I did not wear jewelry. I was a stylist before I was a jewelry designer. So I went to USC. I grew up in California. I grew up in Santa Barbara, California, Montecito, small old sleepy surf town, went to USC, thought that I wanted to be a publisher of magazine. I was always obsessed with fashion growing up. My mom was cool enough to get me a subscription to Vogue when I was younger and I literally like plastered my walls with Vogue magazine. And I thought, okay, one day I want to be like the publisher of Vogue. I went to USC, studied business marketing. I thought that's what I was going to do until I got my first internship. And I realized it was exactly what I did not want to be doing? And you dodged a bullet. I see the racks of clothing going by. I'm on the wrong side of this magazine. I need to be on the other side. So I literally started assisting stylists in fashion stylist. Worked for a few names will not be said here, but they wasn't the best experience. Found out like commercials were the way to go and especially the way to make money. I've always been a hustler. I've always been an entrepreneur. I knew that if I was going to do this, I was going to do it, and I was going to make the most money that I could in that field. Yes. So I was a wardrobe stylist for 10 years. And I... Which is no... Which is the hardest job in the world. Thank you. Because I did it for like three years and I, I, I, it's, there's no glamour in it at all.

1:30.8

It is the hardest.

1:31.5

But you make a lot of money.

1:31.9

You do, if you do it right.

1:33.9

Yeah.

1:34.2

But it's also like you're schlepping.

1:35.6

It's 24-7.

1:36.4

It's so much work.

1:37.3

People think it's glamorous.

1:38.2

It is absolutely not a glamorous job, which cut to, I think that's why we've had, we've done well in the jewelry world because I understand how it works in terms of placements and what stylist needs on set.

1:47.5

Um, Which cut to, I think that's why we've done well in the jewelry world because I understand how it works in terms of placements and what stylus needs on set. But I got, so I was dating a guy in New York. I got diagnosed with something called a desmoid tumor, which is a soft tissue sarcoma that's on my left chest wall when I was 30 that I went through chemotherapy before that I have to live with. They can't take it out.

2:01.2

So it's like my friend that lives with me. But we know it doesn't grow. It can grow.

2:05.3

Okay. Sometimes you feel it. It's a very painful type of tumor when it grows. So you can feel it.

2:10.3

It's hormone driven, driven by estrogen, which is how it grew so rapidly. That's a whole other story that we don't need to get into. But when we ended up

2:15.0

getting engaged, then marrying Kevin, who was the guy that I met in New York. And when we wanted to

2:20.5

have children, my oncologist said, absolutely not. Your tumor grows from estrogen. You need to

2:25.4

get a surrogate, adopt, or get an egg donor. So at the time in New York, people don't realize this.
