WPG Talk Radio.com talks about Howard's Pier, which was the first amusement pier to be built over the ocean in 1882.

It was built on Kentucky Avenue in Atlantic City. It featured vaudeville acts and concerts. The first boardwalk was also built in Atlantic City in 1870 shortly after the Civil War.
