| 1:59.1 | Hence, their beliefs were similar to others who were called Puritans and practiced |
| 2:07.6 | Puritanism because of their preference for this more simple and pure religion. But they did have a major difference from many other Puritan groups at that time. |
| 2:23.5 | They wanted to separate from the Church of England. |
| 2:29.1 | This resulted in them being called separatist Puritans, or simply separatists. |
| 2:39.2 | Now, for a fun fact, they were not commonly called pilgrims at this time, even though that |
| 2:48.6 | term did exist. |
| 2:51.6 | This specific term, Pilgrim, was in use several hundreds of years before 1605 |
| 2:59.6 | to refer to any traveler for any purpose. |
