It's Nico from KB, the, well, it's kind of an iconic cafe up in Pigal.

And we're talking about the subject for today is the neighborhood of Pigal

or as one English tourist I met calls it Piggily. It's not Pigali, it's Pigal, and it's a,

it's a pretty interesting place for a number of reasons. I'm going to talk about that in a sec,

but first the guest, so you know who you're listening to. It's Nico from KB. They've just opened another

cafe in the 11th Arandissement, 25 Rue Amelot called Back in Black. We recorded it in

Place a beautiful park down in the Mareis, not so far from his new back in black place.

But let me tell you a little bit about Pagal before we get any further,

because I want you to know what we're talking about.

So this is a kind of interesting neighborhood because it's changing really quickly.

It's sort of well known for being red light districts,

a little bit seedy, a little bit, maybe a little bit dangerous,

but it's also extremely beautiful,

really stunning sort of neoclassical architecture. A lot of people call it Nouvelle Aten, like New Athens.

But it's changing. The face of it is changing, and Nico has been up there for almost 10 years,

so he's seen it happen. And what happened is I was up in KB his original cafe and I was chatting

to him and he said if you haven't checked out my new cafe you need to come down so I went
