Derek Bodner, joined by a special co-host, Roy Burton. How you doing, buddy? Doing all right. How are you, Derek? You know, one of the great things about being as old as I am and having worked in this industry for as long as I have been lucky to work is you meet a lot of really smart, wonderful people along the way. And, you know, we have a couple of them here working alongside with me.

Rich is, of course, you know, he's on a little bit of a trip. Kyle, we want to make sure we have at the game. Devon is still sort of stuck in limbo. So we call up, you know, like I said, one of my real good old friends in the industry, a guy who has certainly been talking a lot of sports for a very long time and a professional at this

and is a professional at this. And it's great to have you on here. You know, we go back, you know, quite a ways in this business. We're both old is what he's trying to say. Yeah, we're seasoned. Right. Can we say we're veterans at this? You know, Derek and I have kind of going back and forth, you know, talking Sixers for, you know, more than a decade now.

And he had called in an old favor.

I know he covered a couple game stories for me way back in the past. So, you know, it was time to cashing those chips. So here I am. So I'm glad to be here. And boy, do we have a good one here to talk about the Sixers with a 146 to 128 win over the Washington Wizards.

Maybe the worst team in the league.

Probably not maybe. It's probably pretty definite, especially once the Grizzlies get their stuff together.

Highlighted by a 29-point performance from Jewel and Bede in the third quarter alone. Yeah.

And it's funny because I felt like this game started and Bede was struggling a little bit against Daniel Gafford, which is one of those surprising thing that happens. It sounds funny to say, right? Every now and then, but Gafford was playing him pretty tough one-on-one defense. Yeah. And then the six really struggled a little bit with Tyos Jones. He was getting into the paint, finding Gafford for some lobs, and Bede was sort of caught in no mainsland. You're sitting there going, like, you know,

this might just be one of those inexplicable struggles for Joel and Bede that just happens every now and then. It makes no sense, but we've been watching him long enough where we know what happens. And then you look at the end at the end of the half and he had 19.9 and 5.

And I think it was Mike Lynch, our buddy over at Sports Reference, noted that that was the first Sixers player to have 199 and 5 and a half since Alan Iverson in 1998. Yes. Which again, you and I are old enough. We probably remember that game. I remember that. It's been a minute. It's been a minute. So he had that sort of semi-historic

half, and then he comes out in the third quarter, drops 29 points on 10 shots, 29 points, 10 for 10

from the field, 9 for 9 from the free throw line, the most points in a quarter in franchise history,

most points in a quarter by any NBA player this season. And it was effortless. It was really, really effortless. Yeah. No, the two-man game, especially between him and Maxi, beginning of that third quarter, was amazing. I don't know if you broke down the numbers at all. Embed and Maxey scored the first 30 points for the Sixers in that third quarter. They had the three straight, you know, basically, you know, the pocket pass, you know,

dunks for Embed for Maxi, like three straight to rip off the third quarter. What was amazing about this Embed thing was that he had two points with three minutes, you know, to go in the first quarter. Like you said, like he was going to be a slow game. We thought it was going to be a slow game or I thought it was going to be a slow game against Daniel Gafford.
