Summary

This week Trey and Jay team up to take on a fast moving week in the world of politics! We start with the McCain and company torpedoing the so-called skinny bill in the Senate. It looks like Republicans are having a tough time passing legislation and both Trey and Jay agree that with any other Republican president the legislation would have passed. Then we turn to the profanity laced Anthony Scaramucci interview and Twitter fallout. It seems like the Twitter stream of consciousness is the new normal in the Trump White House as Matt Drudge put it: “Priebus Out, General In.” Finally we move to talking about how Mitt Romney was right about Russia and the Senate’s sanctions on Russia plus the Russian response. Trey’s Recommendation This Week: – This War of Mine (Video Game) - http://bit.ly/2vVoDTS Interested in supporting the show and getting even more Politics Guys content? 0:39.1

Welcome, Jay. It's good to have our first podcast together. Yeah, this is going to be fun.

0:40.4

And what a week to have our first podcast together.

0:44.0

We should mention Mike is on a well-deserved vacation.

0:48.2

And also, we are recording this on Saturday afternoon as opposed to we usually do it Sunday morning.

0:55.3

So that's just if something monumental happens late Saturday afternoon or Saturday night and we don't talk

1:00.0

about it, it's not because we ignored it, it's because we were, we were ahead of the game this time

1:04.0

and we thought there were enough things that already happened this week that we didn't need to

1:09.9

wait for anymore.

1:12.5

Yeah, just a few.

1:19.9

So with that, I mean, I think the biggest piece, obviously, is we had a lot of voting going on,

1:20.4

Trey. And if you want to do the lead off on that, talking about what was voted on and who voted?

1:30.8

Yeah, so, I mean, the Republicans have been trying for a while now to push back on the Affordable Health Care Act, right? I mean,

1:36.0

that's been their main plan. Yeah. And so this week, we've kind of had everything coming to

1:41.7

ahead in the Senate. And it culminates late on Thursday

1:45.1

night as we move into Friday morning when McCain and two other Republican senators

1:49.6

from Alaska and from Maine are going to join Democrats and kill what's called the so-called

1:56.0

skinny health care bill. The skinny bill is more or less a straight repeal of the Affordable Health Care Act, more or less. And this is a result of having a number of other bills that were getting shot down either from the right side of the party who didn't think that the bills were going far enough or were keeping too much of the Affordable Health Care Act in place,

2:23.4

and then getting shot down from more left-leaning members of the Senate and the Republican side.

2:27.3

And so McConnell thought that this was going to be the bill to pull things together.
