Peter, you're one of the most traveled men I know.

Have you had any experience of Desert Islands?

Not really Desert Islands.

I was in Yugoslavia this year, and there are quite a lot of uninhabited islands,

but when it's careful not to be wrecked on them,

because it would mean when I have to swim a hundred yards to the mainland.

So I don't think you can really count those Desert Islands.

What would you be happiest to got away from?

I said this year on one occasion that my idea of paradise was a country without telephones.

And my idea of hell is a place where telephones don't work.

You have a very large collection of records.

How do you do set about cutting them all down to eight?

I've selected records on the whole, which are difficult to remember.

Because those I can remember easily, I can hum to myself.

And some of the more energetic things.

I think at my age, my selection tends to be languorous,

rather slow-moving and majestic.

What is, of course, is a reflection of their owner.
