0:00.0	The In 2020, PETA released an ad campaign that blamed people eating meat for the coronavirus pandemic. The ads which read
0:24.1	tofu never caused a pandemic pretty much immediately went viral as people
0:28.4	pointed out that it was tone-deaf to a variety of socioeconomic and racial nuances.
0:33.7	Some even insinuated that the ad brought so much controversy

0:38.8	may as well have been paid for by the meat industry

0:43.0	This isn't the first time that this point has been brought up.
0:45.8	Over the years, the conspiracy theory that PETA is actually a front for the meat industry
0:49.6	has only gained more and more momentum the worse that PETA gets. They continue to
0:54.1	aggressively push out offensive ad campaigns that seem to make
0:57.2	vegans look terrible, which has been brought up quite a few times on
1:00.6	message boards, social media comments, and now even Insider magazine.
1:05.2	It's almost a theory of hope because it's better than believing that PETA is just overwhelmingly
1:09.4	offensive on their own accord.
1:11.6	One Reddit user wrote that PETA was, quote,
1:13.6	actually funded by the meat organizations to make veganism look bad.
1:17.2	They go on to point out that the organization was created in an evil and
1:21.1	narcissistic image of vegans and acts like straight up morons online.
1:25.0	Clearly this is all by design to reach a goal and that goal is to benefit the meat industry, right?
1:30.0	Again, this would actually be a really optimistic way of looking at things.
