Hi Dr. Mona, I really like following your account. I live in London but I'm American.

My question is about catch down growth in baby. My baby was born in the 75th percentile

and he's now gone down to about 10th. He's almost 14 weeks, smashing his milestones,

smiling happy baby and he looks well too. It's just that he's gaining weight really slowly.

So it's not that he's losing weight or he's staying stagnant. It's just that his rate of

gaining weight is really slow and obviously as a first time mom I'm like pretty worried about this

and you know all of the doctors say oh nothing to worry about it's fine but you know but dropping

so many percentiles just has me a little bit worried. So I was just wondering is catch down growth

thing when should I be worried about something like this? I hope you're able to answer this

a lot of the things that many moms and dads in my office worry about you know the percentile

fluctuations and you have a situation where your baby was on the 75th percentile and dropped down

to the 10th percentile which is a lot of percentiles that were dropping but you gave me some

important pieces of information and that baby is developing really well in terms of smiling and

milestones and you also left another message which I wasn't able to put in that baby is eating

really well. You're doing express breast milk. So percentile fluctuations are common and again

it sounds like you had that large jump from the 75th to the 10th. In these situations overall
