Welcome back into the Lions 24-7 podcast. I am Tyler Downeyu. He is Daniel Gowan, and this is our second episode of Penn State's second by week in this 2025 season. And let's face it, the Nidney Lions are caught up in a nightmare right now. They're also on a four-game losing streak, but they've seen their head coach get fired. They're starting quarterback go down with the season-ending injury. And again, coming off a second

consecutive one-point loss to Iowa in case you missed it on Saturday evening, Daniel joined me

from high atop Kinnick Stadium to break down that 25, 24 result out at Iowa City. We broke down a lot on the coaching search

on our first episode this week. We had Chris Hummer, a national reporter with the 24-7 sports

and CBS family to discuss a lot of the names that we've been breaking down over on our

coaching hotboard at Lions 247.com, which, again, if you haven't joined that conversation,

I highly encourage you to do that. A lot of action on that one today, a lot of action on that one every day as we work through things and sort our way towards Penn State's eventual James Franklin replacement at head coach. For now, we're going to talk about Penn State, this 2025 team. I know a lot of people are already focused on the 26 team and what the roster is going to look like, the coaching staff, but this group still has five more games to play, and they're going to come out of this biweek to play the number one team in America in Columbus, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and then they get to come home and play the number two team in America, the Indiana Hoosiers, who will visit Beaver Stadium on November 8th. We talked about it before. This team reaches November without a Big 10 victory

in its possession. A lot to work on in this biweek, certainly. And Daniel, we heard from

Andy Codilnicki just a few minutes before we recorded this on a Wednesday afternoon. Last

evening, we spoke with Terry Smith,

the interim head coach. So we got some things to work our way through conversation-wise,

but not a lot of it is very pretty at this point. I think our audience probably understands that.

Yeah, definitely. I think that the things that we talked about with Terry Smith last night,

some of the things with Angie Coddlenicki this afternoon

aren't really the fun things that we thought we'd be talking about at this point in the

year, especially a matchup against Ohio State looming on the other side on Big Noon,

something that I think we viewed as a real pivot point for all of college football in the preseason.

But it looks a little bit different now.

Butkeyes are early 17 and a half point favorites.

We'll see what this looks like over these next few days and next week and a half.
