Summary

In Glenn's longform weekend podcast he talks about reform of the executive branch to make other branches accountable and the legal recap stories of the week. First up - The firing of Tucker Carlson from Fox News and the testimony of Mike Pence to the grand jury about the January 6th insurrection. Then - the most frustrating story of the week as Donald Trump continues to post insults, threats, and demeaning comments about people who are involved in his New York trials. Glenn wonders - shouldn't the judges issue a Gag Order to protect jurors, prosecutors, and their families? Next Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has withdrawn his appeal to block former New York prosecutor Mark Pomerantz from testifying to the House Judiciary Committee about his investigation of Donald Trump. But it seems Bragg now has a way to make sure no damaging information is revealed to the committee. And finally, in this week's segment on reform - Senator Ted Cruz was recorded with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo discussing how to rig the 2020 election for Donald Trump and Justice Clarence Thomas has been caught accepting luxury gifts and real estate without reporting them. Glenn explains how we should check and balance the judicial and legislative branches of our government to make them accountable.

Glenn's long-form weekend podcast this time features reform of the executive branch

0:20.7

and the legal recap of the week. First up, the firing of Tucker Carlson from Fox News in the

testimony of Mike Pence to the grand jury about the January 6th insurrection.

0:31.3

Welcome friends to our weekend edition of Justice Matters and what a week it's been,

0:38.0

a vice president of the United States testified for eight hours before a federal grand jury

0:45.7

investigating the crimes of the president he served. That's historic. I mean, it's beyond historic.

0:56.1

And you know what it shows us, friends? It is a demonstration of special counsel Jack Smith

1:02.7

moving in the direction of accountability. America so desperately needs and wants and deserves

1:11.1

accountability. You know, friends, we're thirsty for justice and it looks like Jack Smith is about

1:17.6

to open the bar. So yes, we have plenty to talk about and we're going to start with our typical

1:24.2

legal recap running through the biggest legal stories of the week and then we're going to move on

1:31.1

to our reform discussion. But today, I'm not going to talk so much about the need to reform

1:39.2

anything in particular in our government. We're going to talk about the desperate need for the

1:46.4

executive branch to simply do its job. What we've seen just over the course of the last week,

1:57.7

some of what has been exposed about, for example, the Ted Cruz's of the world,

2:06.5

Ted who transparently and nefariously tried to undermine, if not outright overturn the results of

2:14.4

the 2020 presidential election by doing what? By suggesting that a sham commission

2:23.8

was what was needed to overturn the will of the American voters, we just need a commission

2:31.0

to say that there was election fraud. So the commission could declare Trump the winner

2:39.1

because that apparently is the hidden clause of the U.S. Constitution. You know, it's not the

2:49.6

lawlessness of Ted Cruz and his ilk that surprises us or that shocks us or that is the problem.
