0:04.8	Washer and ask them how we can ascertain and employ our spiritual gift. Every single Christian
0:11.1	has been given a spiritual gift by the Holy Spirit that they are to use in the context of the local
0:16.9	church for the equipping of the saints and the evangelization of the lost. And yet some people
0:22.1	don't know what their gifting is or even if they do, they don't know necessarily how to employ
0:26.7	that within the local church. And so I ask Paul Washer for some help in this very important
0:31.3	subject. Let's dial in.
0:42.3	Well, thanks for sitting down again. I wanted to ask you, you know, we've been told that we are to employ our spiritual gift in the service of Christ.
0:49.3	Right.
0:50.3	But maybe many today are wondering, well, I don't actually know what my gift is. How does someone go about ascertaining their spiritual gift?
0:58.4	Well, first of all, let me tell you how you don't do it.
1:01.5	And again, back in the 80s, there were all these almost kind of psychological exams,
1:10.3	questionnaires that you could go through. in the end you would kind of discern.
1:13.6	Do you like leading people? Yes. Who doesn't like leading people? That's a part of our sinful
1:18.7	nature wanting to dominate. And so, you know, the first thing you need to ask yourself,
1:25.5	when you see things like that, did the first century
1:29.5	church have something like that?
1:31.0	No, absolutely not.
1:32.1	They did not.
1:33.2	So how did they discern their spiritual gifts?
1:35.6	Well, let's begin with the foundation.
