And we were supposed to work last week.

1:13.6

Yeah.

1:13.9

You had some car issues, so I'm glad that we were able to connect today. Yeah, me too. It was a perfect storm of car issues. I've been there, brother. I've never, thankfully it wasn't on the highway. But have you ever been driving and you blow a tire while driving?

1:26.1

Kind of frightening.

1:26.9

It is.

1:27.4

Hear a big bang all of a sudden.

1:28.7

Car starts going, ah!

1:29.9

So you've got to grab the wheel and not die. So thankfully, I wasn't going at a high rate of speed. But it was the issue of waiting for the very popular car service that tells you a certain time they'll be there. And then they show up, God knows when. They were like, I referred to them as the cable service of the roads. Right. They give you the time, but who knows if they'll be there and then they show up god knows when they're like uh i referred to them as the cable service of the roads right they give you the time but who knows if they'll actually be at that here are you gonna complain they won't what are you gonna do you're you're screwed so uh but i'm glad you're you're okay and everything worked on we're we're working today that's great yeah well uh we're here today patriots training camp uh they're gonna be taking the field at 3 o'clock. So I figure we'll go pretty football heavy here this first hour. And as a former player, highly decorated career, three-time Super Bowl champion. As they take the field, the whistle start blowing here in an hour. This is really just a question for me. Like I told you in the email chain, I'm going to nerd out here today. Go for it, Jim. Do you have any kind of Pavlovian response when you're here? You hear those whistles start going. You look at the field. In other words, like that starts happening. I know you're, you know, so far removed from this at this point in your life, but the hair in the back of your neck go up? Do you get a pit in your stomach?

2:34.5

Do you feel that level of dread like, ah, camp, oh God. Or do you miss it? It's a little bit of both. It's a little bit of both. It's usually, I think, now more than ever, Jim, is probably more of the, I miss it. And I'll tell you why, because I'm going to be the get-off your long guy. the old guys that always came before us would say in bitch and complain about how hard they had it

2:54.9

versus the guys that were playing had it compared to their ten years in the NFL.

3:00.5

And to me, I can say the same thing about today's players.

3:04.7

These guys have it so much easier than I did.

3:06.8

I would love to be out there where you don't have to go twice a day, where the hitting is considerably less.

3:12.8

They're not stacking these pads. They're not stacked. Right, right. I mean, every third day, you essentially, I think, is off. There's no more. You cannot have two practices in a day with pads.

3:22.8

You know, when, you know, my last year, in 2004, the first day of training camp, we were full pads, nine on seven, goal line. So it's, and that's 14 years ago. So the game has changed probably for the better. Probably needed to get to a point, Jim, where it was, you didn't have as much, you didn't need as much hitting. But the conditions and work environment is so much better for these guys. So part of me is like, I wish I could be playing in the NFL. It played 20, 25 years if you wanted to. But you know, you know what I miss? This is, I always tell people that I love physical, the physical nature of the sport and of my job.
