In fact, I'm one of the people he stepped on as he climbed the ladder of success.

Eric Mataxis. Folks, welcome to the Eric Mataxis show. I try to bring you the big guests,

and I fail every time. Today, I'm bringing you somebody that I'm sure no one has ever heard of.

I think in decades past, maybe you would have bumped into him. But anyway,

Pat Boone, welcome to the program. Yeah, I'm in the category of John Bunyan and Johnny,

what was his name, Appleseed. Johnny Appleseed. You're, oh, listen, you're one of those people that

I was just in Greece filming a documentary about discovering the tomb of Odysseus.

I won't talk about that now other than to say that I was in Greece.

And when I told my cousin that I had gotten to know you and you'd been on this program a number of times. He just about fainted.

He's thinking like, what, Eric? Are you serious? Pat Boone? No joke, Pat. You are an international star.

You've been so for decades. And I just want to open the program by saying how grateful I am that you

would come on this program. And you're even wearing the American flag.

What's that about? Are you patriotic?

I'm draped in the flag and I am really excited about America right now for a couple of good

reasons. And one is that we're doing something that we initiated

that many countries around the world have copied us in.

And that is we're electing our own leaders.

Now, it's a complicated process now.

There's a lot of conflict.
