We are joined today by my colleagues on the editorial page, Barton Swain and Alicia Finley.

On Tuesday, Utah County Attorney Jeffrey Gray,

formerly charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with aggravated murder, among other crimes,

and the 10-page criminal filing is filled with information that closes gaps in the public

understanding of what happened last week.

One, we had some previous conversation about the rifle that was used in this,

according to this criminal information, filed by the prosecutors.

Now it was his grandfather's rifle that his dad had given him as a gift. Also, on the point about the motive,

here are a couple of lines from this filing by prosecutors. Robinson's mother explained that

over the last year or so, Robinson had become more political and had started to lean more to

the left, becoming more pro-gay and trans-rights-oriented.

She stated that Robinson began to date his roommate, a biological male who was transitioning

gender, unquote. The filing also includes text messages after the shooting between Robinson and that

roommate.
