And I just see the whole city different.

I see my generation different.

I'm like, man, if people just knew about the love of God that there's forgiveness in this

man, Jesus, everybody would come home.

God's story has been unfolding.

Since the beginning of time.

He invites you to be a part of it.

Light in the darkness.

It's what we're called to be as followers of Jesus,

like a lamp on a lampstand or a city on a hill.

Shining a light in a dark place can draw people to Jesus.

And it can also draw criticism or skepticism or even ridicule. In 2002, when Jason Lomelino

first began trying to spread God's love in Isla Vista, California, near the campus of UC Santa Barbara,

well, the response was not that great. People were skeptical. They doubted his intention. Some even hurled insults and hate.

Why was this Jesus-loving guy handing out hamburgers on one of the biggest party campuses in the

United States? To answer that, we have to go back to the beginning.

From probably zero to 12, I felt like I just had a really good childhood, you know, played youth sports, was involved with different things in my neighborhood.
