So what do you do when you're the one with this obvious need, but you want to serve others?

Well, maybe you aren't supposed to serve in spite of your need, but you can serve through it.

God's story has been unfolding.

In American culture, there's this high value placed on individualism and pulling yourself up by the bootstraps and doing it yourself. But what if the pathway to true joy and fulfillment and

even living out your calling in God's creation? What if that's dependent on being in deep

relationships with others? I've been thinking about this since my conversation with

Kevin Chandler. He's an incredible human being. Kevin grew up in North Carolina in a close-knit family

that had faith in Jesus at the foundation. He was the second of his siblings to be diagnosed with

spinal muscular atrophy, a rare neuromuscular disease. But where he lacked physical mobility,

he excelled in using his imagination, in creativity, and informing deep friendships. He's a storyteller,

writer. He's traveled the world as a featured speaker for Ted X, Google, and many others.

His life has been a series of

adventures made possible by the deep relationships Kevin has formed with Jesus and his friends.

I grew up in North Carolina. My dad was an airplane mechanic and my mom worked for Crisis Pregnancy Center very much on the front lines of that.

Just some really cool experiences there.
