In July of 2014, Florida State Law Professor Dan Markell was murdered in his Tallahassee driveway, shot execution style in the middle of a bitter custody battle following his divorce from Wendy Adelson.

Prosecutors say that Wendy's mother, Donna Adelson, the matriarch of a powerful South Florida family became the architect of a deadly conspiracy.

Emails and surveillance revealed Donna's obsession with relocating Wendy and her two young sons to Miami,

framing Markell as the obstacle to their family's happiness.

She allegedly enlisted her son Charlie who recruited intermediary

Catherine McBanowa to hire hitmen. Now over a decade later, Donna Adelson, 75 years old, is on trial

facing charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation, accused of orchestrating a murder

for hire plot born of custody and control

Wendy denies involvement and has not been charged and tonight we are live from

I don't know if anyone else uses, but they don't catch the smart ones, right? When you talk about crimes, if someone commits a perfect crime, you're not going to see it on court TV because they don't get caught.

So the ones who get caught are the ones that aren't quite there. So let's talk about intelligence

and the different types of intelligence. Well, you could be book smart, right? This is someone.

You know, maybe you do really good on tests and you're educated, you went to school, maybe went to graduate school, went to the university,

whatever, you know, you're kind of book smart, you know, you put something down, you can learn it,

you can remember it, maybe memorize it, and you're real good at that.

And there's a lot of people in society who are book smart.
