A stadium that's more than just a place for football, tallowed ground, home to the Green Bay Packers, the NFL's most iconic team in its smallest city. Since 1957, this

open-air shrine in Green Bay, Wisconsin, has hosted triumphs, heartbreak, and moments that define

the game, from its humble beginnings as New City Stadium, to its renaming after a legend,

to the bone-chilling ice bowl, its many expansions.

Lambeau Field stands as the NFL's oldest continuously operated stadium.

Join us as we walk through its history, step by step, and feel the roar of over 80,000 fans,

echoing across the frozen tundra.

Let's start at the beginning. Before Lambeau Field,

where did the Green Bay Packers play? Picture Green Bay in 1919 when the Packers were founded by Curly

Lambo. Their first home was Hagemeister Park, an open field with no bleachers or fences. Fans stood

behind ropes or parked cars nearby,

and the team passed a hat for donations.

From 1919 to 1920, Haggmeister hosted

the Packers' early NFL games.

But in 1922, Green Bay East High School

was built on the site forcing a move. For two seasons, 1923 and

1944, the Packers played at Bellevue Park, a minor league baseball stadium seating about 5,000.

It was small, temporary, and not ideal. Then, in 1925, the Packers settled into City Stadium behind Green Bay East High School.

This wooden, horseshoe-shaped venue, with no restrooms and locker rooms in the school,

was their home for over three decades.
