Good evening, John. What we have is a large desert tortoise named Mojave Max.

He's been kind of the focus of school children and local law for years and years.

And they always talk about when he emerges from his den, what does that mean for the coming season?

Well, this year he emerged quite a bit later because it was wetter and colder than it has been some time.

So that has a lot of people thinking, oh, here we go. We're going to have a quick introduction to summer here shortly.
