I'm John Bachelor to New South Wales, Sydney, to Jeremy Zachis reporting on the climate,

the weather.

It's winter in Australia.

It's a large continent.

It has climates that are specific to where on the continent you are.

Jeremy's in New South Wales, which if you look at the continent and think of it as a clock,

that's somewhere between four o'clock and six o'clock in that area down there.

Six o'clock is Victoria at 12 to 3 o'clock is Queensland and way out there at nine o'clock

is Western Australia and Perth.

Over right now we're concentrating on what they can expect over the whole continent and

where Jeremy is.

Jeremy, the news from the reporting is you're about to have winter weather.

Is that accurate?

John, yes, we may finally be getting winter and when we say winter, whether we're talking

about cold temperatures but also the rain, we may actually be about to get a little bit

of rain.

It's not as much rain as what we used to, so we're not getting, say, the 10 to 15 millimetres

a day, which is two to three inches that we generally enjoy in a normal weather system,

but the great news is, John, that instead of getting cold, dry, Christmas mornings with

no rain in sight, we're actually going to get some rain this week, but I have to
