I am John Bachelors to New South Wales, to Jeremy Zakis reporting on the climate of

New South Wales as winter is within hours.

Remember, this is the southern hemisphere, and as here in the northern hemisphere, we're

within hours of summer solstice in the Australian expectations.

We're looking for snow.

However, this year, because El Nino is announced to be imminent or already underway, the question

was what kind of snow, what kind of precipitation El Nino is associated with dryness, very much

dryness, for the remainder of the year, and a lot of heat, warmth is the general way they

speak.

But now, Jeremy, a good day to thundersnow.

What is that?

Good day.

You know, John, yes, we've got thundersnow here, and basically, in short, thundersnow is

snow, which is accompanied by thundersnow.

So basically, as it sounds, and what's so unique about this particular type of snow is that

it doesn't happen normally.

It doesn't happen normally here in Australia because we have what's normally considered

a fairly wet snow, but because of El Nino, because we have such strange weather patterns

right now, the snow that we're going to get, the three to six inches that we're forecasting

at this week, are going to be coming off the back of some very dry conditions, which means

all of a sudden, we're in the right ballpark to actually get this thundersnow phenomena.
