I'm John Battser with a special midweek report from Jeremy Zachus in New South Wales

about the pending weather systems headed into Australia.

This is an Aligno year, Aligno means different things for different

hemispheres. In the northern hemisphere we can expect heavy snows, especially here in the

northeast and lots of cold weather.

In the southern hemisphere where Jeremy abides and it is now coming summertime, it's springtime

coming summertime. The dryness is the first thing Al Nino brings

but after that it brings hot weather that's conducive to bushfires. We start with

the expectation of the weather system. Jeremy, your

meteorologist after hesitating for weeks and weeks and weeks to say El Nino is

coming, confirm it and they're now telling you you're going to have what kind of summer.

In fact, the Bureau of Meteorology

has gone past talking about El Nino as being an event

that's unusual and could lead to a relatively warm summer

with really bad bush fires,

to basically warning us that we will get catastrophic

bushfires up and down especially the eastern coast which is where I am and they're expected to be not only
