Zachus of New South Wales reporting on weather and there's been a lot of moisture in the

air in Australia. It's summertime. The Australian Day, this is a holiday weekend for, was a holiday weekend for Australia. The Australia Day was on the 26th, agreed upon January 26th.

A lot of Barbie, there was some unusual activity at certain stores where Barbie food was discouraged, something to do with

being a celebration of colonial invaders, it's politics. Everybody has their own.

However, we're past that bump. Everybody's enjoyed the Barbie food.

Barbie is Jeremy Tommme many years ago means barbecue. Apparently, that's the only kind of cooking

that gets respect in Australia's barbecue.

And now we're on the other side of barbecue and we're looking at snakes.

We're not just talking about Eastern Browns or Redbelly Black Snakes or

carpet Python. We're talking about snake catchers.

Jeremy, for the first time ever, I learned there's a shortage. How bad is it?

Well, John, this is a shortage of national proportions.

There is actually a national shortage of snake catches.

And snake catches here in Australia aren't just relegated to one state or another.

It's actually all across Australia and every part of the continent, we need snake catches because there's just that many snakes,

especially now with these strange weather systems, snakes are breeding in epic proportions, and these snake catches that we already have are heading out on a daily basis multiple times a day and picking up multiple snakes every single day. So you can imagine for the ones that are currently working, they're doing very, very well. They're getting a lot of money basically, especially the ones that own their own business, but they're being run ragged and they need more people.

Basically, snake catches now everywhere from Sydney up to Brisbane are advertising for new employees.

But the problem is, one, they can't train them fast enough and two John it

seems that the younger generation for some reason or at least the ones that maybe

are in the ballpark where they're young enough to still be agile enough to catch these

fast little critters, they just don't seem to be interested in taking up the lead.
