My colleague Jeremy Zachus, reporting on the climate.

You will recall, this is an El Nino year.

What that means, speaking is that the Pacific is warm all the way up to

South America. That creates conditions that are quite different than L Nenia where the Pacific is cooler

all the way up to South America. It has effects in North America, it has effects in Europe,

has effects in Australia. The effect this year was projected by the Bureau of Meteorology

which waited many weeks to say El Nino. We knew it was El Nino, but we were waiting

for them to say it.

They projected a very hot and very dry summer, meaning alarm bells for wildfires.

And then, Jeremy, a very good day to you. This very hot and very dry summer turned out to be a very

hot and very humid, very wet summer. So the Bureau of Meteorology is at it again.
