This is the Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Bachelor and it is a complete surprise to me.

Jeremy has taught me a language of a sport that I never played, never saw it being played in America when I grew up in the 20th century

cricket.

And it's not played at the Olympics yet, but it's on the card for eventually it will get

to the Olympics.

However, what I've learned from Jeremy is that

there's a rivalry that dates back to the middle of the 19th century between Australia

and the all- England cricket teams.

And that rivalry has created a special language and a special attitude.

Every 18 months or so, the two countries play each other either in Australia or in England.

That's the Ashes series.

Now, however, the Palms, and they're called that.

Jeremy will explain why it's too weird for me to get through.

There's something about pomegranates.

However, the palms have figured out the way way if you can't beat them steal them.

Well John getting back back to the Palms and you're right the reason we call the

English the Pal poems is because

homigranet rhymes with immigrant and we used to refer to the palms back in the

olden days and when I say the olden days the earliest 20th centuries as the

immigrants that you know it came to Australia and we really don't like

it but we sort of kind of you know we'll kind of be friendly towards them so we shorten
