This is the Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Bachelor to New South Wales, Jeremy Zachus. Wintertime. Unusual winter time, I'm told, for New South Wales, in fact for the whole continent.

Jeremy, a very good day to you.

Your weather right now is recognizable for the North Tempered Zone in winter.

It's cold and wet, but apparently you're getting an abundance of

cold and wet what do the meteorologists say good evening to you Jeremy

you know John it is cold it is cold it is getting colder and the meteorologists say it is going to

only keep getting colder over the coming weeks and now just to put it in context here what

we normally have is we have a mild winter so here in Sydney will get cool weather

which you can say it's around the 40s and 50s Fahrenheit during the early morning

goes up to the 60s has a bit of rain then during the night time drops back down again for a little while.

But what we're now getting is temperatures that are hovering around 32 Fahrenheit, so

zero degrees Celsius and barely getting above 10 degrees

Celsius during the daytime.

So talking around 40-45 degrees, which is unusually cold.

And the worst part is, John, most of this is being driven by the power of

the weather systems in Antarctica so they're

basically polar air coming up, freezing the eastern coast of Australia here and

staying cold. So the meteorologist right now are telling us that we're

expecting to get more of this weather and

it's not going to obey it's going to be a very cold unusual winter here in

Sydney so honestly John I've got my coats out I've got everything up I've rubbed up

it's just terribly cold.
