I'm John Bachelot, Jeremy Zakis in New South Wales.

Ashes.

Ashes is a contest that's held every 18 months or so.

The pandemic might have disrupted the flow.

It's held between England and Australia.

It remembers the first episode of the two people, the two teams meeting when the presumption

by the English was that they were going to overwhelm Australia, these colonials.

It did work out that way and the English burned the wickets into ashes, which is what the

contest is then about every year, England, every year and a half, England versus Australia.

Bazzball is a preparation that the English team has been preparing for some time.

And the Australian team, listening to the trash talking that was going on the weeks before

the first test that's being played in England,

is relatively quiet about Bazzball, relatively quiet about their plans.

Now it turns out Australia had everything calculated.

And now that we're in the second test, it's showing that Bazzball is a disappointment.

Jeremy, what is Bazzball and what's happened to it?

Yes, basically John Bazzball is a very offensive, very quick form of cricket where basically

the idea is to get up to back, try and hit as many runs on the board as quickly as possible.

So instead of conservative cricket, where you basically watch the ball coming down to you

as a batsman and try and figure out what the best way is to try and hit runs in the later

part of the game, Bazzball says do exactly the opposite.
