This is the Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Bachelor off to New South Wales where it is hot.

However, it's not as hot as Victoria or Canberra,

and it's not as hot as South Australia, and it's certainly that other universe Western Australia is hotter.

Jeremy, how hot is Western Australia? Good day to you.

Yidday John, it is truly hot, hot, hot, in fact it is so hot that we've just had this week declared that Western Australia has scored the hottest temperature that we've had in records here in Australia. It was 49.9 degrees

Celsius. Now that's 120 degrees Fahrenheit. It was on February 19 and it lasted

for approximately nine hours.

So it was not only hot, it was hot the entire day.

And then after that, I guess the smaller part of the story

is that Western Australia had had temperatures

over 40 degrees Celsius so we're talking about 105 degrees Fahrenheit pretty

much consecutively through most of the beginning in middle part of February and

this is it's not

unseasonable to get warm weather in Western Australia I mean it is a hot part of

Australia but John over 40 degrees Celsius and nearly 50 degrees

Celsius now that is just plain hot I just don't know how they're doing it there in Western Australia right now.

However, it is not that much cooler in South Australia and Victoria. I've seen the videos.

There's no skiing or wherever they're skiing,

they have to find a snowy patch or they hit grass.

The population is wandering around looking stunned.
