This is the Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Batson to my mate, Jeremy Zakis in New South Wales,

0:08.0

who's going to report on the climate. The conditions in New England, southern New England, are

0:13.4

unusual. We had a snow shower two days ago. It was gone by noontime. We've had a very dry fall,

0:20.8

so much so my pond is down six feet. It was down by noontime. We've had a very dry fall. So much so, my pond is down six feet.

0:23.0

It was down eight feet.

0:24.7

The stream was dry, which is extremely unusual this laid into fall.

0:30.3

It's filling up a little bit with the melting snow, but not much.

0:35.3

1:17.2

I don't just mean a little bit of heat. I'm talking temperatures that are around 35 degrees

1:21.7

Celsius. So we're nearing the 100 degrees Fahrenheit and we're expecting down in even Victoria,

1:26.7

which is a lot further south

1:28.1

than us, some areas are going to hit 40 degrees. So that's around about 110, 115 degrees

1:33.9

Fahrenheit. So honestly, John, everything you've described there about the dryness there in New

1:38.8

England and I guess the fact that you don't have water kind of applies to us right now,

1:43.0

except the only thing is the reverse,

1:44.9

and we are in very, very warm conditions right now.
