Summary

My guest Jackie and her husband David always thought they would foster and maybe adopt. After starting a family of their own, fostering siblings for a time and having twins, a viral photo of a malnourished orphan in Ukraine changed everything.

As Jackie and her family prayed for the boy to be adopted and cared for, God spoke to her heart.

“There were plenty of reasons that we could come up with, but no real reason that seemed good enough to say ‘no’ to it. So we committed to adopting him. We didn't even know what country he was from to start with people. God just said, that's your son.”

After committing to their first adoption, another boy in Ukraine in a similar situation came to their attention. He was soon to “age out” of the adoption system and was desperate for a family. Again, Jackie and her family prayed and again God called them to adopt.

0:38.2	I think just through continuous prayer and not like we just had total peace about it. We were
0:44.2	super scared but we just both felt like we again we don't have any reason not to do this like
0:52.4	there's plenty of reasons that we could come up with but no real reason that really seemed
0:58.8	good enough to say no to it so we committed to adopting him we didn't we didn't even know what
1:05.2	country he was from to start with. People ask me like so how did you choose international adoption?
1:11.8	How did you choose Ukraine? How did you choose your boys? What disabilities were you okay with?
1:17.3	And I say like we didn't even know who this boy was or where he lived or what his diagnoses were.
1:25.6	God just said that's your son. I invited Jackie to be on the show after finding her on Instagram.

2:25.3	still that we have found he provides enough strength when I do not have enough and I thought that
2:31.7	is a message I know moms need to hear more than ever right now because we are all feeling overwhelmed.
