Two weeks into this 2025 football season, we knew all of a sudden that Notre Dame had to win 10 consecutive games to state its case for the college football playoff committee.

Now after today's home finale, Notre Dame has won nine consecutive days and made about as loud a statement as it could

possibly make with a 70 to 7 triumph, romp, whatever you want to call it, against visiting

Syracuse. 70 to 7.7, it was never that close. I'm John Bryce, the football scoop and Irish

TP, your initial thoughts on Notre Dame's dominant blowout victory.

Well, I'm not surprised it was dominant.

I think a few of us picked a shutout.

I stopped shy of, I didn't even get to 50 because I thought that, you know,

Norden would be in a position to take their foot off the pedal, but it wasn't that kind of game. Nordy was scoring on interception returns and blocked punts. And so, you know, they shot up to 21 points real quickly. And then after that, you know, the offense didn't even gain 400 yards. I think that, you know, a couple of the crazy stat. The craziest stat to me is that Syracuse ran 80 plays and Nordame ran 39.

You know, but it was, but again, largely because of the defense, the big plays,

and then the special teams.

It was the kind of dominant performance that we expected.

The numbers got out of control, of course,

or they never even had to throw the football really of any of any note. But the running game was

what we expected. Jeremiah Love was what we expected. There's some Notre Dame records out there

that he is now approaching. And we've been saying it for a few weeks. You know, I, like I realized that Ashton Genti rushed for 2,600 yards last year. And he didn't,

he didn't even win the Heisman. And I know that Jeremiah loves numbers won't compete with that.

But the big plays, the spectacular play, the consistent breakaway plays that that, that,

that he puts up.

He deserves to be in New York on December 13th.

But more importantly, Notre Dame doing exactly what they had to do.
