All right, so we're going to talk about experiments for this round and we got we're going to start off with this new format that we have going on over here, which we haven't talked about too much, this new pod format.

0:11.0

So we are basically doing 15 minute episodes for five times a week

0:18.3

versus what we had going on before which was five episodes of seven episodes a week for five minutes and we believe

0:25.0

it's going to add a lot more in terms of retention and the first episodes actually

0:29.0

start coming out next week I will say this so far so far this experiment, Neil and I are putting a lot more

0:34.3

work into ideation, a lot more into preparation, which we kind of did it before, and we believe

0:39.3

it's going to be a lot better. And plus we're thinking about maybe every once in a while we'll bring in some

0:43.1

guests for like a 15 minute episode and we'll just kind of shoot the shit with

0:46.1

them but I think the episodes are a lot more fun as well and we haven't reinvented on a

0:52.3

format for maybe seven years or so and maybe that's why it's it's been fun but it feels like it's gotten a little stale and now I think it's starting to become even more fun now.

1:02.0

So Eric has these stats. I don't have them, but there's the number one reason we want to end of doing this. So Eric what percentage of our listeners are repeat? I know you have that stats somewhere. You want to share it? No, I have a retention graph. I know you have that stat somewhere you want to share it? No I have a

1:14.0

retention graph I look at and so let's say like a hundred percent of people come

1:17.6

in month one what ends up happening is like 13 to 15 percent come back in

1:21.6

month two and then seven percent or so come back in month three.

1:25.0

So that's not a very good retention graph.

1:27.0

It's not a good retention graph.

1:28.0

So the podcast gets over a million listens a month.

1:32.0

Now think about it this way. We're losing 87% of the people who

1:37.0

listen in month one from on to month two. So instead of focusing on cranking out 30 episodes or 31 episodes or 29 depending on how many days

1:46.7

in the month or whatever it may be, we want to switch our focus to creating better episodes longer, and the big experiment here is we don't think that the

1:56.9

podcast is going to generate that many more views per episode but we're hoping the long-term benefit is because of quality is higher, the

2:05.8

retention will be better. So instead of 13% on month two, if we could get it
