And I'm joined today with Father John Languwa, who's the president of our Pontifical faculty

here in Washington, in order to bring a quarantine conversation to you.

This is a slightly different format from what we have been normally doing, and today's theme

is Our Lady's Sword, the Holy Rosary, and the Battle for Salvation. A part of the reason for

choosing this theme is that Father Languieuie is himself a church historian. He did his doctorate

in church history at the University of Freiburg in Switzerland. And he's also a great

devotee of Our Lady and of the Holy Rosary, so we. And he's also a great devotee of our lady and

of the Holy Rosary. So we thought that this would be a great combination of his expertise

and also his loves and something that might be helpful to people who are quarantined at home,

and I hope, now praying the rosary more often, given that it's very difficult to get

to Mass, but the rosary being a wonderful thing to do in this time.

Let me just kick us off with a general question about the Blessed Virgin Mary.

So when a Catholic begins to talk about praying the rosary, often the first objection one will get from a non-Catholic or a Protestant or perhaps a, even a Catholic who may not be as familiar with the church's devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Why turn to the Blessed Virgin Mary when you could just pray to Christ, for example?
