Page 1426, Hebrew 7, 26 through 8.

For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest,

holy innocent undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted

above the heavens.

Who does not need daily like those high priests to offer up sacrifices first for his own sins and then for the sins of the people.

Because this he did once for all when he offered up himself.

For the law appoints men as high priest who are weak,

but the word of the earth, which came after the law appoints a son, made perfect forever.

Now the main point in what has been said is this.

We have such a high priest who has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of the majesty in the heavens.

A minister in the sanctuary and in the true tabernacle, which the Lord Pitch, not Man.

For every High Priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices.

Hence, it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.

Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are those who offer the gifts according to the law, who serve

a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. Just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect a tabernacle.

For see, he says, that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.

Let's begin right at the end where Phil just left off in verse 5 with these words quoted from

exodus 2540 see that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown

you on the mountain. Now the point here is that when God came down, assembled his people

Israel at Mount Sinai and established a kind of constitution with them in the mosaic law and told them how to build the tabernacle and dress as priests and do the sacrifices.
