Welcome back. It's the Big Blue Banter New York Giants Football Podcast. I'm Dan Schneier.

0:05.7

I joined as always my ghost, Nick Falado. And there's been, it's our what? What are we at now?

0:11.4

It's hour 48 or so on the Giants firing Brian Dable head coach watch, the interim for Mike

0:19.4

Kafka, who's getting his opportunity and a decent opportunity

0:22.1

at that, to potentially showcase himself for other NFL teams or for the New York

0:27.2

Football Giants potentially retain. I'm now seeing Nick, and we'll start with this.

0:32.2

There's a possibility that Mike Kafka could return as offensive coordinator because they want

0:36.5

to keep him for Jackson Dart and his

0:38.1

development. That's something I saw Dan Duggan float this morning. I don't know how how viable that is.

0:43.1

And if he would want to do that, but it might not. And as Dougan said, Nick, and let's start here,

0:47.6

it might not be that crazy when you consider one, according to Duggan. You know, Kafka has moved his family

0:54.0

here and his family is living their lives here. And I'm sure his kids are in schools and he's built his life here. And too, he probably really enjoys working with Jackson Dart and this young quarterback. And this may be one of the best opportunities he has if he doesn't get a head coaching job, whether that be with the Giants or another team next season. So are you excited for, are you open to the idea of Mike Kafka as either the next Giants head coach or retaining him to keep him with Jackson Dart? I'm open to both ideas. And I want to say the audio here, it's not going to be like the previous episode where that was a file corrupted, but I am at my parents' house at the moment on my laptop.

1:31.3

So it's just not as crisp as a professional microphone.

1:36.4

But regardless of that, I am open to both of those scenarios with Mike Kaffka. And it would make sense.

1:37.3

If he does a respectable job, the Giants finish, they win a couple games here or there,

1:41.7

and the team seems to, you know, rally around him to some

1:45.0

degree. It doesn't necessarily mean he has to be the head coach, right? Unless like he

1:49.4

absolutely knocks it out of the park. He could just be the offensive coordinator for a coach

1:53.8

that is receptive to having him be the offensive coordinator. And that's where I think it's really

1:57.9

important where the conversation could go. It's like, is that

2:01.3

coach actually receptive to him or is this an offensive coordinator that's being foisted upon a coach, which I'm not as open to that. I do want to cohe, whoever this new coach is going to be, I want it to be a cohesive, well-run thing and not something that you kind of go and half-hearted and then something goes wrong and then there's you know animosity and antipathy built among the coach we've seen this

2:20.0

happened before with the New York Giants when it comes to just the coaches not being on the same page a lot recently with the past two coaches with Brian Dable and with Joe Judge. I don't want that for the future coach. But if that future coach is accepting to a possible office coordinator being Mike Kafka and
