Got a good play for you today from suspense.

One of my favorite old-time radio programs. This was a program that ran for

about 20 years from 1942 to 1962. The title of today's play is Murder by the Book, and this one stars Gloria Swanson.

Gloria Swanson was born March 27th of 1899, and she was an American actress, producer, and

businesswoman. She first achieved fame acting in dozens of silent films in the 1920s and was

nominated three times for an Academy Award as Best Actress. Her success waned a bit in the 1930s,

but she had a comeback with the movie Sunset Boulevard in 1950.

That movie also earned her a Golden Globe Award.

After that, she only made three more films,

but she also guest starred on several television shows

and acted in road productions of stage plays.

Gloria Swanson passed away April 4th of 1983.
