Yeah, I'm so excited about this thing with building, right? It's working, making stuff.

I like it. What do you think it is about it that you obviously like me, you gravitated to this

thing out of necessity because there just simply wasn't anything else, right? At that moment.

Right. But what keeps you in the game? Well, the whole time I was working on other people's houses,

so you have to kind of think about what you're doing. Like, for me, there was a span that seemed

to go on forever. It was probably only about six months or nine months before I was doing an

earthquake. Was this pre-sleeping in the van on the way to the job down the freeway when you were

with the, what was it? A blind, not a blinds company, a shelving company. KBC. That's the one.

Always better closets. I was doing earthquake rehab and I was making good money because it was a

city job. Was that like crawl space tying houses to the foundation kind of work or what does that do?

Yeah, earthquake rehab. The way earthquake rehab worked on a big building, a big brick building,

which is the only ones that would rehab these big old brick buildings. They weren't right. They

weren't downtown LA. It was kind of worse. They were off of Normandy and like, Wilsherne,

Western and this weird kind of career town now, this big old shitty apartment. You know, when you

drive down the street, you look up and you see an apartment building and you see a lot of guys

drying stuff on the outside railing. Like, the saddest tabloin in the world is the balcony filled

with kids' toys. Not the architectural intention for the balcony. And then like also using the

railing like it's a clothesline, like drying towels and shit and socks and stuff. You know when you

pass those apartments, you go, who the fuck lives in there? Imagine going in there full time. That was it.
