In February 2021, Eric Ibarra was invited onto the YouTube show, Pints with Aquinas, by its host Matt

Fred, for a debate with the Orthodox priest, Father Patrick Ramsey.

The topic of the debate was whether or not the tenants of Vatican One can be proven to have

existed in the first millennium. Father Patrick did well in the debate, and that is not just my

opinion. It is the largely Roman Catholic viewing audience, who when polled on who the victor was,

63% of them stated Father Patrick was the victor, while only 37% considered Eric Ibarra the victor.

That is remarkable considering that, as mentioned, the majority of the viewing audience is Catholic,

so one would expect the majority of votes to go largely to Eric Ibarra, but instead, the largely Catholic audience voted largely in favor of Father Patrick.

Some blamed it on the shortage of time, but that would have also hindered Father Patrick. Others pointed out

that it could have been the audience was mesmerized by Father Patrick's melodic Kiwi

intonations since he was from New Zealand. But the most likely reason they went so heavily

in Father Patrick's favor is that Eric was just simply wrong, no matter how many supposed examples he could bring up.

Regardless, the viewers decided, and in a debate, it is not up to the debaters to decide who won.

Rather, in a debate, the audience is the judge, jury, and executioner of the strength and validity of one's argument,

and the jury opted to ruthlessly and publicly

execute Mr. Ibarra's argument by almost a two-thirds majority, quite the landslide.
