Summary

Manon and Emma welcomed cycling royalty to the pod this week: Orla Chennaoui. Orla was fresh off a remarkable day on the bike, taking on L'Etape du Tour de France Femmes. Their chat started with that and then headed into incredibly inspirational territory. Orla is a star, and it was our pleasure to welcome her to the pod. I actually can't quite believe we have them on. I can't quite believe it either. A absolute trailblazer for women's sport and sports media. We are going to be joined by the one and only, Ola Shenouie. Let's have her on. Let's do it. I'm so excited. Whoo. Shammai, Ola. How are you? Shemai? I'm very well. Thank you. How are you both? It's lovely to see you. Good. It's lovely to see you too. Thank you so much for coming on the pod. We're like, stoked to have you on. Oh, I'm delighted, honestly. It's like an absolute privilege. It's lovely. Thank you. So you're finally back home after a very, very busy five weeks, is it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was away for five weeks Monday night. Yeah, it was my first night in my own bed and five weeks. Even saying that makes me feel really anxious, but it was all fine. But when I realised, I don't really realise, I think a lot of the time when I'm away, how long the stint is.

2:16.3

And I've been really lucky. I was in London for the Tour de France, the Men's Tour de France. And my family were able to come over for the second two weeks of the race. So I've been with them for the last three weeks anyway. So that makes it a lot easier. But yeah, it's a long time away from home. And especially when you're on like autopilot as well.

2:55.1

Yeah, you kind of get stuck in this like surface, don't you? Yeah, and it's so intense. And you don't realize that that intensity is added to by the fact that you are away from home and you're outside of a natural environment. You don't have any of the home comforts, you know, but I have been really lucky this year in particular. So for the three weeks of the Tour de France, I tend to stay in London or around London. That's where our studio is for

2:59.2

T&T. I live in Amsterdam, so it means being away from home. But my mum and my mother-in-law are

saying at helping out with the kids. So this time around, my mum and my dad and my husband and my two kids and my dog were all in London for two of the three weeks. So it's as close to home as it could have been. And I also realise, you know, if we spend a lot of time on the road as you two have done an awful lot. Home is sometimes a feeling more than a place.

3:24.8

And if I've got my little family around me, I'm traveling. I'm like a turtle. You know, I'm sort of traveling with my home anyway. So yeah, it could be a lot worse. It was good. It was a really good experience actually. But yeah, it's super intense. And you're obviously just back from doing the A TAP fam, which was a huge challenge for you, wasn't it?
