Starting off strong with Fraticide at a family-owned wedding venue,

then a commuted death sentence involving two brothers, murdering one of two cousins that

were traveling through the area in Oklahoma. And finally, another update to the Lucchese crime family.

Let's get into it. Nestled off northwest Brunswick Canyon Road in the unincorporated

North Plains, about 20 miles northwest of Portland, is Horning's hideout. The wedding venue is more

than a wedding venue. Horning's hideout is a 160-acre time capsule of Oregon's wild soul. Towering fir trees drape

the gravel drive that winds into the Hidden Canyon, and the grounds include wild peacocks

strutting through picnic groves. The venue includes different 18-hole disc golf courses and also stocked trout ponds.

Couples come here to say, I do, under canopies of trees.

Yelp reviews gush about the rustic magic of the area and the endless peacock parades.

The Hornings bought the ranch in about 1958, with around $20,000 they had

scraped together. They then expanded the land and bought more in 1967. Initially, this place was meant to

be just a cattle ranch, and the plans for the area morphed in 1986 when the family began holding wedding and company

picnics at the venue. That expanded to small concerts and camping for families. Today, it's an LLC

juggernaut. Horning's hideout LLC is valued at $1.7 million. Pulling from $200 day passes to $15,000 event bookings,

all on land that stayed, quote, private park, this to dodge urban zoning wolves.
