Over the last few weeks, many of you will have heard Radio 4's coverage of Sir Walter Scott,

from James Nocte at Scott's baronial home, Abbotsford, to David Tennant playing the man himself in the classic serial.

From mid-May into June, the Royal Opera House will be joining the fray,

performing a new production of Rossini's opera Ladonna Del Lago, based on Walter Scott's 1810 poem, The Lady of the Lake,

an example of his international appeal over the centuries.
