Almost every day, Evelyn watches the same video of her daughter, looking into the camera and babbling. battling. That was one of my favorite videos because she's using her voice.

Last fall, my colleague Amber Ferguson met up with Evelyn while she packed for a trip.

By the way, we're only using Evelyn's first name to protect her privacy.

Evelyn was finally going to see her baby in person for the first time in almost a year.

And I'm really excited.

I don't know if I'm nervous but excited definitely and I know I'm

going to cry because it's been so long and I just hope that she embraces me and she's a baby so I feel like babies sometimes remember things

but sometimes they don't. So we will see how that goes. I'm excited.

You see, Evelyn placed her baby for adoption. And now she was on her way to see the adoptive mother and her family and most importantly her daughter Olivia.

Time is going by so fast so seeing the pictures and videos of her growing up over the months. It's exciting to look at but now I get to see her

in person and hold her and touch her and hug her so that really means a lot to me.

Despite all the joy and excitement,

this moment almost didn't happen.

This adoption almost didn't happen.

get an abortion.
