Well, hello there, everybody, and welcome to the final post-paper-view edition of On to the next one here in the Year of Our Lord 2021 following an incredible UFC 269 event in Las Vegas, a card that had it all, the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, career-altering moments for some emotional crossroads for others.

One of the biggest upsets in MMA history, prospects emerging, and much more. This one had it all, and as tired as we are, we are excited to fire this up this week for the 71st time.

We only get to do this matchmaking thing two more times this year, and what a ride 2021 has been, hasn't it?

It's been a ride enjoyable at times, my best friend, quite miserable at other times, so of course, depending on who you are, depending on your situation.

It's almost a shame, because you kind of mentioned just what made the cards so great is how much store lines are coming out of it.

It's almost a shame that we have another card coming up. I would never begrudge fans for enjoying another card that will be free with, I shouldn't say free, but you asked me in plus subscriptions free for us in Canada on TSN.

It's almost like, would be cool, they could have ended on this emotional capper. If they ended on 269, it's like, man, and new.

One of the greatest upsets we've ever seen. A definitive answer to who was the best lightweight in the world right now.

Again, I'm sure we'll have store lines next week. Louis Stockis has implications.

Wonderboy Thompson's fighting, that's going to be a big step up fight for Balal Maham and there's other store lines going in.

It's actually a really nice card next week, but I don't think it's going to match the emotional and dramatic impact of 269 and how could it?

It would be very fun if this could have been the UFC's farewell to 2021, but maybe other people will see it another way that it'll actually be nice to have one last chill session with the MMA community before we head off into the new year.

It's a house money card for the UFC. I don't think anyone has very high expectations. I think they're just going to watch it just to watch it.

And then after that, we get Jake Paul versus Tyron Woodley in the same day.

Oh, yes. So that's the emotion comes from this is what I'm saying though. Wouldn't you rather end the year on 269 than whatever happens at the...

Even if Woodley KO's Jake Paul, it just the whole thing will still just have this icky feeling to it. So I wish we could have ended on 269.

And like you said, it's free money. If next few weeks card is bad, we won't remember it. If it's great, it's great. If it's bad, we won't even remember it.

We'll remember 269 is sort of the way the UFC capped off 2021.

I think you have to end every calendar year with the Derek Louis fight and then it just doesn't matter.
