You know, I wanted to talk first about the issue of voter suppression, which I think is such

an important issue facing this country.

And maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I sort of grew up believing that we should encourage

everybody to vote and that basically the more people who voted,

the better democracy we had. What's wrong with that theory?

I feel like that's Civics 101, right? Voting is at the heart of our democracy. It's how it functions. It's how it operates. And, you know, I often think about the

struggle that we've seen unfold in our country to extend the franchise to everybody, to women,

to African Americans. And it is unfortunate that in 2019, we see so many people working to lock people out of the ballot box by erecting hurdles that make it harder for people, even to register to vote.
