This episode takes us behind the scenes of Director Mimi Leader's new biographical drama

on the basis of sex.

Inspired by the true story of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg,

the film weaves together her career as an attorney fighting for equal rights,

her storybook romance with her husband Martin Ginsburg, and her life as a new mother.

In addition to On the Basis of Sex,

Ms. Leader's credits include the feature films, The Peacemaker, Deep Impact, and Pay It Forward,

and episodes of the series China Beach, LA Law, Nashville, Luck, Shameless, and The Leftovers.

She is a three-time DGA award nominee for her work on the

television series ER. Following a recent screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles,

Ms. Leeder spoke with director Sasha Gervasi about filming on the basis of sex. During their conversation,

Ms. Leader discusses balancing the classic and the contemporary,

meeting the real life Ruth Bader Ginsburg while developing the film, and the movie's

coincidental connection with the documentary RBG.
