Behind every great fortune lies a great crime because this is hell and I don't know what crime it was that was committed on my front stoop last night Alex, but my front stoop is covered in blood.

So that's something to wake up to when you're getting the newspaper in the morning.

I have no idea what's going on out there and I've kind of convinced myself there was just somebody

eating the Indian treat known as pawn and they were spitting on the front porch of my place but, it looks like something horrible has happened on my front stoop.

We are repeatedly told that science is objective.

It has no goal but to forward our understanding of the physical world around and within us.

We're reminded that the process of scientific inquiry is nothing more than asking a question,

performing research, establishing a hypothesis, testing your hypothesis, by conducting an experiment,

making an observation, analyzing the results in drawing a conclusion, and finally presenting

and possibly publishing your findings, which all seem perfectly analytical

and absent of any bias whatsoever.

Problem is, as with supposedly objective algorithms, science is conducted by humans, and humans have a variety of biases that are both known, as well as others that go completely unrecognized by the person conducting the scientific inquiry.

But what if our vaunted ideas of our objective science are not what they appear to be?

What if science as understood by the West is far more insidious if not outright

nefarious? What if science has a major contributing role in colonialism and the dismissing of local knowledge as lacking

expertise and what if as today's guest has argued in the past pollution

is colonialism meaning science has in fact contributed to climate change.

Such ideas would lead people to reconsider that sign on their front lawn that announces science is real.
