The I'm going to do. Okay, well, so for today we're going to cover quite a bit of ground, which means we're not going to go,

0:39.7

we're not going to like linger on every passage in this section of Genesis, but I'm going to try to get through chapters 12 through 36, which I've called patriarchal history, and you could almost say 12 to 50 is patriarchal history but

0:56.8

12 to 36 is Abraham Isaac and Jacob and then beginning in Chapter 37 to 50 the last part of Genesis is focused on what people

1:07.4

call the Joseph story the story about Joseph so it really takes a focus where it hones in on one person at the end of Genesis.

1:17.0

Whereas here in this section we're looking at several people.

1:20.0

I do want broad overview of the life

1:25.0

pretty closely though at Genesis 12, one to three,

1:28.0

and then we're just gonna kind of do a broad overview

1:31.0

of the life of Abraham, and then a really quick look at Isaac and

1:36.3

Jacob because again I you know for those who missed the very first class I want this

1:42.2

to be more like a survey of the Old Testament, not looking at just every single

1:47.5

passage, every single verse, but I want to get a broad overview, partly because I want to finish

1:52.2

the class before I die.

1:54.7

But also, I think there's a place for spending two years in Genesis.

1:59.8

Absolutely.

2:00.6

But I think there's also a place of giving that broad overview of, you know, the Bible or in this case, the Old Testament.

2:06.5

So I do want to start picking up the steam a bit.

2:08.9

But before I do, I want to look at Genesis 12-1-3, but before I do that, I want to look at Genesis 12-1-3 but before I do that I want to look at Galatians.

2:15.6

So if you do have your Bibles you can go to Galatians.

2:18.8

If not, here's, well I'm only going to put one verse on here, but I do want to kind of survey a few,

2:27.0

well I can just kind of survey the whole chapter really.

2:30.2

In Galatians 3-8, Paul says that the scripture announced the gospel in advance to Abraham,
