The shooting at Brown University unfolded in minutes but changed providence for days.

On a quiet campus near College Hill, gunfire erupted inside an academic building,

sending students running and others barricading classrooms as emergency alerts lit phones across the city.

Sirens converged, officers swept hallways, and the university locked down while hospitals prepared for the wounded.

By nightfall, lives had been lost. Families were waiting for news and a shaken community gathered in silence.

As dawn came, the investigation widened beyond the gates.

Detectives reviewed surveillance, traced movements through streets and buses, and followed tips

pouring in from the public. A shadowy figure captured on video became the focus of a manhunt,

but certainly proved elusive. Leads were checked, a person of interest questioned, and then

released, underscoring how fragile answers can be in the first hours after violence. Classes paused,

vigils formed, and Providence held its breath. The search continues driven by evidence,

patience and the urgent need to restore safety to a campus still echoing with questions.
